(1) For ships that need to meet the requirements of broken tank stability, the lower edge of the ship's hatchcover window hole is below the waterline in a broken state and outside the shelter that will be flooded after damage, and shall be equipped with an inoperable hatchcover.

(2) Ship's side sheeting of a ship's hatch cover or a floor superstructure or deckhouse with a safety exit to the accommodation below the freeboard deck, only heavy or medium hatchcovers with storm covers are permitted to be assembled.

(3) Heavy or medium hatches with storm covers shall be assembled with immediate safety exits to the bilge of the second superstructure of the accommodation below an enclosed first level superstructure or freeboard deck. In addition, the allowable position of each type of hatchcover also depends on the strength of the type of hatchcover.
